Our review of Lakeland Leisure Park

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES

There are a range of accommodation options at Lakeland Leisure Park.  The most basic (and cost effective) are the caravans – comfortable, child friendly accommodation with everything you’ll need for a relaxing break. For those looking for something a bit fancier, consider upgrading to one of the park’s exclusive areas – Mucklethwaite and Elterwater – which offer four higher grades of accommodation (Luxury Lodge, Prestige, Prestige with decking and Lakeside Platinum).  As the names suggest, these holiday homes offer a higher standard of self catering options with guaranteed parking spaces, private decking areas, and amazing views.

For an idea of prices, a standard caravan sleeping four in two bedrooms costs from £1230/week in the summer holiday peak (note: it’s possible to find a cheaper stay if you don’t include the optional ‘stay and play’ extra, but given this provides access to the swimming pools, restaurants/takeaways and some of the other child friendly activities on site, we’d strongly recommend including it in your holiday budget).  Other price examples during the summer holidays include a Prestige caravan with decking at £1766/week (or £1955/week for a three bedroom model sleeping 8 people); or a three bedroom Platinum model sleeping six for £1845/week.

Touring and camping holidays are also possible, with 187 pitches available.

CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

This holiday park is all about family holidays, and there’s an almost overwhelming number of child friendly facilities and activities on site.  Children of all ages will enjoy the separate heated indoor and outdoor pools, while water sports fans will enjoy the various activities available at the activity lake including kayaking, canoeing, pedalos and paddle boarding.

Other child friendly facilities (some of which come at an additional cost) include three outdoor play areas, an all-weather bowling green, a crazy golf course, tennis courts, an all-weather sports range, paddling pool, adventure trail, pool tables, bungee trampolines, aerial adventures and sports field.

If all that wasn’t enough, your family friendly evening entertainment is also catered for at the on-site events arena offering a variety of shows and events.  The arena is also host to a variety of daytime entertainment, particularly suitable for occupying younger tots and children – talent shows, messy art, mini gardeners, Big Top Circus school, tiny tots singalong and more.

PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

There’s so much to do at Lakeland Leisure Park, it’s quite possible you won’t even need to pack the kids into the car every day for a busy day out – which in our experience means a more relaxing holiday for mum and dad!

If you do head out, then there are a myriad of family friendly options available in the nearby Lake District.  And when you return to the park at the end of the day, you’ll benefit from a range of food options – including Papa John’s Pizza and Cook’s Fish and Chips – meaning you don’t need to worry about cooking the family dinner. Lakeside Bay offers family friendly dining in comfortable surroundings.  There’s also a handy on-site mini market offering everyday essentials, dine-in meals, fresh produce and more; and you can also pick up kids toys at the Fun Shop or swimming accessories at the Swim Shop.  Equipment you’ve forgotten to bring can be hired too.

WiFi is available, and pets are welcome in certain dog friendly accommodation.

IN SUMMARY…

There’s so much to do at Lakeland Leisure Park, you might find you don’t end up seeing much of the beautiful Lake District during your stay!  But whether you’re looking for a base to explore Cumbria or a holiday park with enough to keep all the kids occupied, Lakeland Leisure Park ticks all the right boxes.
