Our review of Smallicombe, Devon

This award winning, hidden gem is tucked away in the rolling hills of East Devon. Set in a rural location close to the road network, Smallicombe makes an ideal base for exploring the West Country. This farmstead offers a range of accommodation options from self catering to B&B. The Granary and Cider Barrel would be suitable for 4 or 5 person families. Both are well appointed and tastefully decorated. The Farmhouse offers Bed and Breakfast in style, with room for a 4 person family. Summer peak prices for The Granary start at £895 per week with short break options also available; we think you’ll find these prices very competitive for this part of the world! Peak prices for B&B come in at £135 per night for a family suite.

Smallicombe is a working farm, specialising in rare breed livestock. As well as the acres of outstanding scenery to explore there are opportunities for the children to interact with the animals. On site you will also find a play area with swings, slide, wendy house and a trampoline, and there’s also an indoor games room.

Upon your arrival, your considerate hosts can provide you with a hot meal as well as hampers lavishly stocked with local produce. It’s also possible to indulge in a real farmhouse breakfast – just have a quick word with the owners and you’ll be able to order a piping hot farmhouse breakfast delivered directly to your cottage. The accommodation at Smallicombe is child friendly and very tastefully decorated, and all the usual baby and toddler equipment is available to borrow if you need it. A babysitting service can also be arranged if mum and dad fancy treating themselves to a night out. Pets are not permitted but there’s free WiFi across the site.

Offering peace and quiet in a rural idyll, yet located close to some of the best sights on the Jurassic Coast, Smallicombe has something for all the family.
