Our review of Tomich Holidays

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES

There are a total of twelve self-catering cottages and lodges at Tomich Holidays.

The stone-built cottages form part of the impressive Victorian farmstead and are set around an attractive courtyard.  The cottages sleep 4-5 in two bedrooms and most benefit from an open plan living room area.  Outside, there’s a shared patio area with BBQ facilities and picnic tables.  One cottage, Victorian Dairy, is self-contained and offers slightly smaller (but even more cost effective!) accommodation for families of up to four people; it also benefits from a covered veranda with outdoor seating.

The woodland lodges at Tomich are slightly larger than the cottages, sleeping up to six people in three bedrooms.  Made from timber and surrounded by the natural birch woodland, they offer tranquil and secluded accommodation.  Balconies with French doors offer the perfect place to relax and unwind in the evening as the sun sets.

For an idea of prices, a family of four staying at Tomich Holidays during the summer holiday peak season can expect to pay around £820/week for either a cottage or a lodge.  Prices are lower at other times of year – as low as £350/week – and short breaks are also available.

CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

Tomich Holidays offers a range of on-site facilities to keep visiting children entertained.

Always popular and guaranteed to entertain little ones whatever the weather, there’s a heated indoor swimming pool with individually bookable sessions; and a converted store room now makes up a brilliant indoor games room with table tennis, table football and snooker.  Children will also find a small library and games store here.

Outside, younger tots will enjoy the toddler play area with swings, slides, climbing frame and low-level assault course; while older siblings will find plenty of safe open space on the huge lawn for football or cricket.  The expansive grounds of the Guisachan Estate and Glen Affric mean families won’t be short of opportunities to take in the countryside air while exploring this beautiful unspoilt part of the country.

PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

Only two minutes walk from the holiday complex is a handy seasonal café, the Coach House Café, offering coffees, cakes, snacks and light lunches – a great treat for the kids or a hassle-free dining option.  The village also benefits from an excellent local family friendly pub.

Pets are welcome to stay at Tomich for a small additional fee – and they’ll even have a welcome doggy biscuit awaiting their arrival.

For parents dreading their return from a muddy walk with the kids, there’s a helpful drying room for cleaning your gear, and a bike store too.

WiFi is provided in the cottages, and cots and high chairs are available to borrow free of charge if needed.  EV charging is available.

IN SUMMARY…

Tomich Holiday’s location is simply superb: Glen Affric on your doorstep, Loch Ness within easy reach, and miles of stunning walks, valleys and waterfalls to explore in every direction.  For a cost-effective base to explore this magical part of Scotland, and with excellent family friendly facilities on-site too, this is a brilliant option.
