The Esplanade Hotel is located right in the centre of the popular Cornish seaside town of Newquay. With seven miles of sandy beaches, it’s the perfect destination for surfing, sunbathing, sandcastle building and splashing in the waves. Child friendly days out in the local area include the Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay Zoo, Dairyland Fam World, Pirate’s Quest, Flambards theme park, Lappa Valley Steam Railway and many others.

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES
The Esplanade Hotel offers a variety of family-sized rooms in different configurations: options include three, four, five or six bed rooms. A typical family room sleeping four provides comfortable, spacious accommodation with a double bed and bunk beds. Sea view rooms are also available in each size, offering magnificent coastal views over Fistral Beach and headland.
The hotel was fully refurbished in 2021 and reopened with a refreshed, modern look and all-new facilities.
For an idea of prices, a standard family room sleeping four people costs around £613 for two nights during the school summer holidays; a full week starts at £2195. A long weekend (Fri to Mon) in a sea view room at the same time of year can be yours for £1470; but out of season can be found for as little as £420. These prices are on a bed and breakfast basis, but other dining packages are also available.
CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
The Esplanade is right on the beach, so family fun in the sand and surf is just a short walk away. But the hotel also offers a wealth of child friendly activities of its own too.
There’s a superb indoor heated swimming pool, ideal for children of all ages to let off steam and have a splash whatever the weather’s doing outside. The pool has a splash area perfect for younger visitors. The Esplanade also boasts its very own cinema room, complete with popcorn vending machine, which shows family favourites throughout the day and early evening. There’s also a lovely soft play area for entertaining your little ones, and a games area for older children. For outdoor fun, there’s a brilliant outdoor pirate ship and sports court.
In addition to all this, the hotel offers fun and free activities for visiting children during the school holidays. The schedule of activities is regularly refreshed so there’s always something new to do. And for the more adventurous amongst you, the Esplanade is also home to the Quiksilver Surf School which offers family friendly surfing lessons suitable for all abilities, coached by qualified instructors.
There are some lovely little extra child friendly touches at the Esplanade too: for example, family rooms come fully equipped with dressing gowns for children and adults alike, while little ones receive their very own build-my-bear companion.
PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
The Esplanade offers a helpful babysitting service, meaning mum and dad can enjoy some relaxing quality time at the adults-only cocktail bar or perhaps in one of Newquay’s many pubs or restaurants. Or perhaps you fancy a peaceful visit to the hotel’s hot tub or sauna by the pool?
For mealtimes with the kids, the hotel’s Cove Restaurant is the perfect place for laid-back family dinners. The restaurant has direct access to the outside play areas, meaning adults can unwind and relax with a drink while the kids enjoy the fresh air outside. A children’s menu is on offer ensuring all tastes are catered for.
Luxury spa treatments are available at the Esplanade’s sister hotel, the Fistral Beach Hotel, which is just round the corner. What better way to unwind and rejuvenate? And even better, hotel guests get a 10% discount!
For those travelling with the family dog, a number of pet friendly bedrooms are available for a small additional charge – many of which have outside access. WiFi is also available throughout.

The Esplanade has clearly been designed with younger visitors in mind, but without forgetting that family holidays are for mum and dad to relax too!
