Our review of Oakdene Forest Park

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES

Oakdene Forest Park has a variety of self-contained modern caravan and luxury lodge accommodation. The caravans are fully equipped with all mod cons and cosy interiors, while the Superior and Signature lodges come with their own private hot tub.  The largest lodges sleep up to eight people in four bedrooms.

For an idea of prices, a Select+ Lodge sleeping a family of four in two bedrooms, and with enclosed decked area outside, costs around £1800 for a week during the summer peak.  However, a more basic Statement Caravan – new for 2020 – costs from as little as £800/week at this time of year.  A Superior+ Lodge with Hot tub, sleeping six, costs around £2500/week in the summer.

CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

The local area has a wide range of family friendly days out (see above) but you may find you don’t need to leave the confines of Oakdene park to entertain your little ones with the fantastic range of child friendly activities available.

The jewel in the crown is the resort’s indoor swimming pool, complete with flume, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Impressively there’s also a second heated outdoor pool which is open during the summer months, weather permitting.

Other child friendly facilities on the park include adventure golf, an entertainment arcade, a large playing field and an outdoor play area. You’ll also find available a huge number of exciting additional paid ‘Go Active+’ activities including archery, fencing, Sea Scooters, Body Zorbing, Crazy Karts, Football Darts and Football Pool.

PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

There’s a fully equipped gym at Oakdene Forest Park with plenty of equipment available including free weights, resistance machines, running and cycling machines.

Making life easier for mum and dad, there’s a fully stocked supermarket and launderette on site, while dinner times will be a breeze at the resort’s onsite restaurant (or you can order food to enjoy in your accommodation).  Sky Sports and BT Sport can be enjoyed in the Acorn Bar.

For evening fun, head to the entertainment complex for a variety of family friendly shows, themed nights and activities – comedy acts, gameshows, magicias and illusionists.

There’s free WiFi across the park, and some accommodation is pet friendly.

IN SUMMARY…

Oakdene Forest Park is superbly equipped for relaxing family holidays – cosy well-priced accommodation, a wide variety of children’s activities on site, and some luxuries (not least the hot tubs) for mum and dad.  And the beautiful Dorset countryside is right on your doorstep!
