Nettlecombe Farm is tucked away in the Isle of Wight countryside near the small village of Whitwell. There’s tons for families to see and do on the island, not least enjoying the many miles of beautiful sandy beaches, exploring secret coves, and following countryside routes in the neighbouring Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on foot or bicycle. Seaside amusements can be found nearby at Sandown and Shanklin, while further afield family friendly days out include Brading Roman Villa, Butterfly World, Carisbrooke Castle, Dinosaur Isle, Robin Hill Adventure Park and Godshill Model Village.

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES
There are nine child friendly cottages at Nettlecombe Farm, sleeping between 3 and 10 people. The cottages have been tastefully and sympathetically converted from former farm buildings including a milking parlour, stable block, grain store, blacksmith’s forge and more. They now offer well-equipped, child-friendly self-catering accommodation with all mod cons supplied. BBQs are provided for all cottages.
For an idea of prices, a family of four staying in cosy two bedroom Oats Cottage – with open plan living area and private patio overlooking the hills – costs £1555 for a week during the summer holidays (but as little as £485 out of season). Ten bed Swallow, perfect for larger groups or extended family gatherings, costs between £850 and £3025/week. Short breaks and weekend stays are available throughout the year other than the summer holidays.
CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
Nettlecombe is an award-winning working farm and young residents are invited – encouraged! – to explore the farm and get involved. Animals for little ones to befriend and help feed include sheep, goat, pigs, geese, chickens, giant rabbits, donkeys, a Shetland pony, alpacas, reindeer and even an emu! The Parent Friendly Stays children have always enjoyed unique animal feeding experiences like the ones available at Nettlecombe, and we think they’re the stuff the best holiday memories are made of.
There’s plenty more to keep children occupied and entertained at Nettlecombe, including grassed play areas, toddler play equipment, a Wendy house, a wooden tractor, a rustic climbing play facility and a sports play area perfect for football or other games.
PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES
Nettlecombe Farm is perfect for grown-ups who enjoy a spot of fishing, with its very own well-stocked fishing lakes. Fishing is free to guests and really enjoyed by kids fishing for the first time ever – and also by the more professional types – you’re almost guaranteed to catch a fish!
Helpfully for parents who fancy a break from cooking dinner, there are two pubs and restaurants in the nearby village of Niton – just a five minute drive away. A babysitting service is also available to ensure mum and dad can have some relaxing ‘me time’ by themselves.
Those looking for peaceful rest and relaxation may also like to join in with yoga sessions in Nettlecombe’s converted barn with underfloor heating, where a number of experienced yoga teachers offer weekly classes and workshops, with all equipment supplied. Or enjoy a relaxing walk in the beautiful countryside surroundings.
Nettlecombe is very pet friendly and dogs are welcome to stay in any of the farm’s nine cottages, while the acres of countryside offer the perfect place for your four-legged friend to let off steam. High chairs and cots are available to borrow, and there’s free WiFi available in some (but not all) of the cottages; for those without, data sticks can be hired for a small fee. Electric vehicle charging is available for a small extra charge.
