FEATURES AT A GLANCE

Our review of Bluestone National Park Resort

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES

Bluestone National Park Resort features a range of accommodation types. There are luxury lodges in a range of sizes and styles, many of which have stunning views over the nearby lake or the attractive Pembrokeshire countryside. Closer to the shops and restaurants, there are some more traditionally styled Welsh cottages, and you’ll also find some smaller studio apartments here too. All the different accommodation types come with bedding and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, TV/DVD player and more.

Prices naturally vary depending on your accommodation preference, time of year and how far in advance you book (so being organised really helps!). By way of example, a week for two adults and two children in August costs around £1250 in a two bedroom cottage or around £1400 in one of the more modern lodges. A six bed lodge at the same time of year costs just under £2000, or for big family reunions, you can hire a bunkhouse lodge sleeping 14 for around £3800.

CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

There’s plenty at Bluestone to keep children of all ages occupied. For a start the complex is set in 500 acres of Pembrokeshire countryside so, by anyone’s standard, there really is no shortage of safe space for the children to run around in, climb trees, build dens and generally enjoy the great outdoors.

For rainy days there’s a fantastic indoor family adventure centre with facilities to suit every child. For older kids there are the ‘big four’ – The Swing, The Drop, Sky Trail and The Wall – and there’s also crazy golf and the ‘NRG Room’. There are also specific areas for younger children including soft play, bouncy castles, mini golf, climbing frames, the Circus Zone and Baby sensory. Under the same roof as the adventure centre is the Blue Lagoon water park which features a swimming pool with wave machine, a rapids river ride, two exciting water flumes and a lazy river. For younger children the swimming pool also features a specific toddler area where young ones can safely splash around and hunt in rock pools.

As if this wasn’t enough the Bluestone National Park Resort has loads of other organised activities to help keep your children entertained. There are bikes and buggies available to hire; the ‘Steep Ravine’ area with high ropes, tree climbing and zip wires; a tournament field with archery and a giant catapult; tennis courts; the Treetops adventure playground with outdoor fun for both toddlers and older children; an organised beast hunt; 4×4 Safari driving; the Mud Mystery archaeological dig; and there are a range of water-based activities on Bluestone Lake including kayaking and raft building.

PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

Bluestone is not just for children and there are lots of reasons parents will enjoy a holiday here as much as the children. Cottages and lodges come with all the baby and toddler equipment you’ll need, and there are a number of helpful extras available including early check-in, maid service, welcome hampers and the opportunity to choose your lodge location. There’s also Wi-Fi in the lodges and an internet connection in the cottages and studios too. Meal times are easy to organise at Bluestone with a range of restaurants, cafes and bars on site, and the village itself ishome to its very own historical pub, shops, bakery and restaurants. Adults looking for the ultimate in relaxation will doubtless be keen to make use of Bluestone’s very own luxury spa facility which offers a variety of treatments and therapies. Bluestone offers a professional babysitting service every day and evening, giving parents a welcome chance to spend some time alone and make full use of the spa or dining facilities. Families should be aware that pets are not allowed at Bluestone.

IN SUMMARY…

The Bluestone National Park Resort has to be one of the most child and family friendly holidays we’ve reviewed at Parent Friendly Stays, with oodles of entertainment for children of all ages and an equal number of tempting options for parents too. We can’t wait to give it a try ourselves.
