Our review of Deerpark, Cornwall

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES

The lodges at Deerpark are situated to take advantage of their scenic setting next to an ancient millpond, with many at the water’s edge offering peaceful views.

There are a range of cabins available, from comfortable Silver Birch through to special Golden Oak. All options come with a log burner, gas BBQ and an outdoor hot tub. Sizes vary with the largest cabin offering accommodation for up to six people in three bedrooms.

There’s also a single Golden Oak Treehouse which sleeps eight – a quirky log cabin with all the luxuries of the other properties at Deerpark, but with the addition of a secret en-suite bedroom across a rope bridge; an exciting and unique location for a larger family gathering.

For an idea of prices, a week-long stay for a family of four in the summer holiday peak costs from £2335. A property sleeping six in three bedrooms costs from £3100, or £3300 if you’d like to ensure a waterside location.

CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

Trips to Forest Holidays sites like Deerpark are all about making the most of the great outdoors, and there’s nothing better for getting back to nature with Deerpark’s full programme of Forest Ranger activities to book – including Forest Discovery, dusk and night vision walks, Teddy Bear’s picnic and pond and stream dipping.

Other optional paid activities like bike hire and archery are also available, while the on-site children’s play area is available on your doorstep whenever the kids need a chance to run around.  You’ll also enjoy a variety of safe walking routes including a Peter Rabbit Discovery Trail.

PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

At the heart of Deerpark is the Forest Hub, which hosts the on-site restaurant and bar, from where you can order delicious freshly-cooked meals and drinks to eat in, take away or have delivered to your cabin.  There’s also a handy shop stocked with all your holiday essentials and luxuries, and a handy laundry room (plus the children’s play area mentioned above).

There’s a traditional Cornish pub, the Plough Inn at Duloe, just ten minutes from Deerpark, and a broad variety of restaurants and pubs down on the coast at Looe and Polperro.

A number of luxury extras can be purchased to make mum and dad’s holiday at Deerpark even more relaxing – welcome hampers, Pizza Night or Burger Night packs, in-cabin spa treatments, traditional breakfasts and more.  And you can also hire useful baby and toddler essentials like cots and bed guards.

And what better way to unwind at the end of a busy day sightseeing with the kids than by sinking into your very own hot tub and gazing at the stars with a glass of fizz in hand?!

IN SUMMARY…

We’re a big fan of woodland lodge holidays – cosy child friendly accommodation with scenic views, wholesome outdoor activities for the kids, and tempting extras like a hot tub to ensure mum and dad have a relaxing holiday too.
