Accommodation and prices
The self catering accommodation at Cwmcrwth Farm comprises three individual stone barns set around a picturesque courtyard, sympathetically converted into comfortable, character rich and well-equipped holiday cottages which sleep 4, 6 and 6/7 people. All the cottages have shared access to the gardens with barbecues and seating. For an idea of prices, a week for a family of four in two bedroom Hayloft during the school summer holidays will set you back £875, which we think is very reasonable. A ‘little uns’ farming break (see below) from Monday to Friday in June costs £350.
Child friendly holidays
Cwmcrwth Farm is all about traditional, healthy, outdoor holidays with plenty of wholesome farm fun for all the family – especially the kids! Surrounded by trees, streams, fields and a wide range of rare breed farm animals, Cwmcrwth Farm offers a great environment for children to splash in the stream, dip in the pond and enjoy the invigorating Welsh air. During school holidays in the spring and summer visiting children can help Farmer Rob feed the animals, and for enthusiastic budding farmers there are special ‘junior farmer’ breaks available offering children the opportunity to look after the pigs and chickens, feed and water the animals, clean out the pens, collect eggs, brush the horses, and try out milking and bottle feeding lambs where the seasons allow. The farm fun also includes attempting the animal obstacle course, quizzes and treasure hunts. For preschool children there are similar farm themed ‘little uns’ courses. Cwmcrwth Farm also has a new castle themed play area.
Parent friendly holidays
Farm fun isn’t just for the children at Cwmcrwth, where there’s opportunity for grown-ups to learn new skills and create artisan food. Available courses for adults include goat and pig keeping, cheese making and pork curing amongst others – but if you just fancy taking advantage of the tasty results then you’ll appreciate Cwmcrwth’s on-site farm shop. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement and there’s free satellite WiFi throughout. And to keep your luggage volumes down, cots and high chairs are available to borrow on request.
There’s something special about simple, natural countryside living as a break from the stresses and constant rush of modern life. At Parent Friendly Stays we think Cwmcrwth Farm looks like the perfect holiday destination at which to unwind and relax while offering the children a unique hands-on experience of farm life.
