Our review of Crieff Hydro Hotel

ACCOMMODATION AND PRICES

The Crieff Hydro has a variety of room types on offer including standard, executive, signature and family rooms, and there’s also a range of self-catering options including lodges, cabins and chalets (all of which come with free childcare too – see below!). The complex also features five different restaurants so there’s plenty of choice and something to suit all tastes. Price-wise, a family room in the hotel during winter starts at £129/night but at the height of the summer in August prices are more like £300 per night. A week in a self-catering lodge for a family of four in the summer season costs around £2800. Not cheap, but pretty good value when you consider the range of facilities on offer.

CHILD FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

The owners of the Crieff Hydro Hotel in Perthshire claim on their website that it’s “hard to find a Scottish hotel that offers you more”. Having had a look at what’s available on site, we can see where they’re coming from! The hotel offers over 60 indoor and outdoor activities: golf, horse riding, quad biking, segways, swimming, archery, badminton, boat hire, bowls, cinema, croquet, horse riding, snooker and tennis to name just a few! There’s loads to keep children of all ages occupied – from a soft play area for the toddlers to adrenaline-packed activities like wakeboarding and the “tornado ride” for older kids.

PARENT FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FEATURES

To keep the parents happy, each guest receives six hours of free childcare a day (for children aged 2-12 inclusive) which means the adults will really get a chance to make the most of some of the venue’s more grown-up attractions, like the on-site luxury spa. There are also a total of seven eating outlets available on the site.

IN SUMMARY…

All in all, here at Parent Friendly Stays we love the look of the Creiff Hydro Hotel, both for the variety of family entertainment on offer and the possibility of free daily childcare, which seems sure to guarantee a relaxing holiday for adults and children alike!

WHAT THE OWNERS SAY

“At Crieff Hydro we’re not fans of the phrase ‘something for everyone’. But in our case, it just so happens to be true.

With Crieff Hydro’s luxury self catering holidays, you’ll appreciate the little touches – like a hearty Perthshire welcome, a world of on-site activities and a friendly team dedicated to your needs (yes, we’re here just for you).

But that’s not why our guests return to our luxurious self-catering accommodation year after year.

No. What you’ll really love is free childcare in Big Country, just for kids, and over 60 activities to occupy the ficklest of fickle tastes. (Not to mention staff hell bent to help you get the best from the huge choice on offer). For our guests, a self-catering family holiday in Scotland means enjoying yourself your way.”
