Accommodation and prices
The Burnfoot Holiday Cottages complex features eight self-catering child-friendly properties, each of which sleeps between two and ten people, and is located on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. The cottages are smartly appointed and well equipped having been converted from the original farm buildings in 2009. A party of four people can stay in one of Burnfoot’s smaller cottages for as little as £375 per week, rising to around £830 at the height of the summer.
Child friendly features
The cottage complex is set in two acres of countryside and has a large safe area in which children can run about and play. Burnfoot is named after the two streams which merge nearby but parents can rest assured that neither of the streams can be easily accessed without climbing a wall or gate. There’s also a children’s play area (located well away from where cars enter the farm) featuring a range of outdoor play equipment including trampolines, swings and a slide. There’s also a tennis court to keep the kids active and fit, and there are ponies grazing nearby who love to be fed by visiting children.
Parent friendly features
To keep the parents happy, well-behaved dogs can stay with you at Burnfoot subject to a small fee, and there’s free WiFi on site (though the signal may not work perfectly throughout the whole site). Travel cots, stair gates and high chairs are available free of charge as long as you let the owners know in advance what you need. The complex’s manageress is sometimes available for babysitting, which means you’ve got the option of spending some time at the local village pub in Nertherton village – only a quarter of a mile away.
